I started reading this with basically no knowledge of catholic theology and emerged with a glimmer of understanding and respect for Gutierrez' arguments so I'll count reading this book as time well spent despite the fact that I just could not follow some of Gutierrez' lines of thought. For dramatic reasons, some liberties were taken with the chronology and events (this is a novel, after all, and not a history) but to be honest, the real Nancy Wake's life was so exciting, these additions weren't really necessary and, in at least one case, defied credulity, but overall, this read was so enjoyable and I learned so much that I would give it a good 4.5 stars. So, the copy of this book that I borrowed was very, very old. Nancy Wake is undoubtedly the star but others compete for our attention, too. She also worked with the British SOE during this period. It opened up new perspectives and insights for me.
As a male healthcare worker it is what I hope for in a book. A friend sent me this book and when I first set eyes on it I wasn't sure.
