the characters are very real, and this is no sugar-coated nostalgia. Nothing really happens the first 60-70% and then it finishes strong.

I did roll my eyes once and thought, "do you really expect me to believe this?". Going forward to April and I finally got the chance to start reading again and I finished this absolutely, awesome book in two days. My opinions and feelings towards her characters turned on a dime, I couldn’t decide who was to be believed as none seemed trustworthy and all appeared to be harboring layer upon layer of secrets, tragic losses, and deep-seated issues that I was extremely curious to unearth. It was dark, disturbing, and distressing.
