At least once a week, my family and I bring Leila, our three-year-old, mixed-breed dog, to our favorite local dog park, Fort Funston. The route conveniently brings us back to the parking lot, where we can quickly wipe Leila down before hopping in the car and heading home. Closer to earth, you will find lots of space to walk your dog on the winding and extensive trails, and plenty of beach to play on. The area is covered with a network of trails suitable for hiking or horseback riding. Be aware that the current and undertow are very strong and the water is quite cold, so while splashing in the surf is alright, swimming isn't recommended for anyone, whether on two legs or on four.
